As we were pulling into the parking lot at the pediatrician’s office to get a diagnosis for what we would later discover was my daughter’s broken arm, Anya asked made a comment about how we’ll be bringing Baby Brother here too. I said, “Yes, he will need to come here and see the doctor for his check-ups when he’s born.” She said, “And he’ll get his shots and he will cry.” I told her, “he might cry a little at first when he gets them but you know what I used to do when you were a baby? I would give you mimi’s (what we call nursing) right away and it made you feel so much better and you stopped crying. So I’ll give Baby Brother mimi’s to make him feel better too.”
And, because she’s 3.5, she found this to be the most hysterical thing in the world and laughed.
